Losing a part of oneself due to covid and having a stroke is hard, but losing a parent and not knowing is even harder.
Mickey Guerrero, a long time resident of La Junta and a public servant was hospitalized with covid, due to the severity of his illness he was placed on a ventilator and shortly after being admitted into the hospital he suffered a stroke and required surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain. He then developed pneumonia. Mickey was in intensive care for 47 days and has now been transferred to another facility. During this time of him fighting for his life, he lost his mother. He is unaware of the fact that his mother has past away. Due to the severity of his illness he has still not been told of his mother's passing and cannot be told as this may cause a set back. He is making some progress but it is going to be a very long road and quite awhile before he will be able to return home.
Due to Covid restrictions his wife and sons are not able to be at his side. His wife and sons are also still recovering from Covid, they were all hit pretty hard and are just now starting to feel better although with that being said, Mickey’s wife is unable to work as she is caring for her sons and the family is suffering from financial hardship.
It is not known at this time how long Mickey will be in the hospital. When he is well enough for discharge he will be transferred to a rehabilitation facility
Our community has been so good at coming together when one of our own is in need of help. We understand that times are hard for many but ask that you try to help the Guerrero family financially. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to help financially your continued prayers are appreciated. Updates will be posted on FB by Juanita Hinkhouse. Thank you in advance for your continued support.
God bless you all,
Mela, Michael & Shaun
