I hope you are well.
I am starting a fundraiser on behalf of my boyfriend Davi and his immediate family, the Ramos-Barbosas.
On Thursday, October 19, Davi’s beloved brother Mick took his own life on the coast of Palos Verdes in Los Angeles.
As you may know, Davi, his mother (Fafa), and Mick immigrated here from Brazil in 2019 in hopes of finding freedom and a better life. Davi’s father and siblings are still in Brazil.
While it pains them that they are separated during this tumultuous time, it is not an option for Davi and his Mom to return to Brazil as the restrictions of their visas will not be allow them back into the US.
However, because Mick was on a student visa, it may be grounds for his siblings Samanta, Mickaela, and Cassiel to come to the US on a short term visa to attend the funeral and grieve together as a family.
This fundraiser will be mostly for tickets/travel/visa costs related to getting Davi’s 3 siblings + niece to the US. Other ways donations may be used:
- for Fafa, Davi, and myself to pay rent while we miss several days of work this month
- for costs related to the memorial
- for food and supplies
- for additional resources related to post-trauma and therapy, as Davi was the one who found Mick’s body.
