Hello!

If you are reading this then either you or your child has been involved with the Michigan Tech Men’s Rugby club. Founded in 2007 the MTU rugby club serves to promote and teach the great sport of rugby at Michigan Tech. Every year we will typically have 4 to 6 regular season games in the fall and attend 1 to 2 tournaments in the spring (dates and locations can be found on our Facebook page). Additionally, we have an annual snow rugby game during MTU’s winter carnival in early February and are planning an alumni game on September 2nd of 2023!

During the rest of this spring semester, we plan to attend NashBash in late March, a tournament in Nashville Tennessee with 95 other rugby teams! As well as a rugby 7’s tournament in Stevens Point Wisconsin in April.

This past season our team has grown from 15 to 35 players, more than doubling in size! However, with the increase in involvement, we have also had an increase in expenses to keep our team afloat. Traveling as a team has become very expensive, in the past with fuel, van rentals, and hotels our organization spends roughly $4000 to move 15 to 20 players to games. That being said, we do get an allocation from the school to fund our organization, but it is not able to cover all of our costs.

Through our common love for rugby, we have developed countless memories and lifelong friendships. We wish to continue to share this great sport and community with others. To do so we are humbly asking you, parents and alumni to aid in covering some of the expenses for the remainder of the season.

Our goal is to raise $3000 to cover our anticipated costs, any donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and go Huskies!
