One year ago our dear friend Michelynn was diagnosed with stage 4 CRC (Colorectal cancer).

Due to her being stage 4 and chemo not working, she will be needing additional surveillance as she at a higher risk for recurrence. Determining that she has a recurrence sooner than later will be the difference between being curable vs incurable (so intense surveillance is very important, especially in this first year).

Through a company called Lifelabs she can access ctDNA testing which is regularly used at the major US centres. However, this testing is not yet covered in Canada.

This test and molecular profiling will also provide information that would otherwise be unavailable. In the scenario of needing future treatments (surgery, chemo, ablation, etc)

Finding out the additional genetic information of my tumour will also give Michelynn more insight into why the chemo she was on (Folfox), which has a success rate of 70%, did not work for her. It will also give her family the necessary info should a genetic mutation be discovered; their daughters could also be screened to determine if they are carriers. This is of the utmost important to her.

Please help with financial costs associated with obtaining the surveillance tools that will assist with monitoring Michelynn.
