Support Our Supergirl

Donation protected
On Wednesday, May 16th, the Turchiano family received a phone call no family wants to get.  What her family heard was: Michelle....wreck....brain injury.....air care....Good Sam.

While driving home from work that day Michelle  suffered a hemorrhagic stroke.   She was rushed to Bethesda North Hospital, but shortly after arrival it was decided that she would better served at Good Sam.  Michelle was flown to Good Sam via air care.  Once at Good Sam, she underwent a craniectomy to relieve pressure on her brain and allow room for swelling.  The stroke has left Michelle with paralysis on the left side of her body.  She has been through a number of procedures including the placement of a PICC line, a transfusion, and tube feedings.

Michelle has made remarkable progress over the past week, proving what we already knew...she really is Supergirl!  And while Supergirl possesses all of the same powers as Superman - including healing factor,  even she can't do everything by herself.

Michelle is at the beginning of what could be a very long journey.  Best case scenario, Michelle will be in the hospital and rehab for about a month, but it could be as long as 3-4 months.  Once she is able to come home, modifications will need to be made to the house.  Laminate floors will need to be installed throughout the first floor of the house.  She will need a bed that sits low enough to the ground to allow her to put her feet on the floor while sitting on the edge of the bed.   And she will need a walk-in shower.

Thank you!  Thank you not only for considering a monetary donation, but also for the prayers and well wishes, and offers to assist.  It all means the world to the Turchiano family.

GoFundMe has requested that we provide transparency to our account.  Michelle's sister, Angela Heinz, will be the beneficiary and therefore withdrawing the donations and using them to pay Michelle's bills that are related to her stroke.

To stay updated on Michelle's current condition, please feel free to visit her CaringBridge page that her sisters update daily: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/michelleturchiano/journal.
