Many of you already know that we have been in the studio working on our first album. It's been an exciting time of working closely and growing together, and we’re really happy with the fruits of our creative labors! So far, we have funded all of our expenses for the album (i.e. studio sessions, music video, travel expenses, etc.), but it’s not easy, and it's not cheap! In order to continue to build on the momentum we’ve started together, to continue moving forward with making this album, in order to be able to distribute it to you all and take this show on the road(!!!), we’re reaching out to you for a bit of help. Joining us in this "GoFundMe" effort, aside from the obvious help it provides us monetarily, it also a way to secure yourself a copy of the album, before it comes out!
A quick background on Michelle Sarah and the band - born in Toronto, Canada Michelle spent the informative years of her childhood growing up in Guyana, South America. Michelle was in her mid-teens by the time she and her family moved to the States in the late 90's, and her future as a singer was already in sight. It was in Guyana where Michelle truly began to explore singing and taking on different forms of doing so. "Church is where it all began, those soulful sounds of the church choir and the huge voices therein, who could help themselves but to feel the music?" she explains. The band came to fruition after an impromptu jam session, a couple years back, and it’s been full-speed ahead ever since.
With main collaborator, Ira Friedman, she says "...the other half of my musical brain in this project, there are endless possibilities for what the future holds and where our music can go." It's with great pride that we ready ourselves and this album for its late May release! We can hardly wait to share this with you all!!! ! ! !
We put together a few customized reward packages in exchange for your love and support, and they’re pretty fun, too. They're not set in stone, if you have a different idea for what you might like from us, if you'd like to use your reward as a gift to somebody else, by all means, please let us know how we can help! We are ALL EARS for any idea for you might have to customize a reward package for you, within reason. Our goal that we’ve set is $11,500. Where’s that money going to?
The album, itself:
In order to finish the recording process, which includes additional recording time, paying additional session musicians, professional mixing and mastering, artwork, manufacturing and distribution to radio stations, streaming networks and other promotional outlets, we are looking at around $6500
Merchandising/Promotion
Part of making a successful album involves promotion. This includes posters, merchandising (tee-shirts, stickers and other swag), as well as advertising in numerous publications. $2500.
Touring
We plan on going on the road and playing around the region to promote the album. We’re putting aside a band fund to help with some of the expenses that touring involves… vehicle rentals, gas, food, lodging. $2500.
