Michelle’s fight is our fight!

Hi everyone! My name is Janet Hollingsworth Coffman and I want to tell you about my dear niece, Michelle Hollingsworth.

Michelle lives in Paris, Missouri with Kevin Steffan and their sweet 4-year old-daughter, Emmy Lou. Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2020, and her treatment required a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation and hysterectomy. After several complications, it looked like things were moving in the right direction. However in February, 2022, she was experiencing pain and it turned out to be from her cancer spreading to her spine, pelvic bones and liver. Her cancer had advanced to stage 4 metastatic. In May 2022, she received news that the cancer was still spreading and not responding to current treatments.

Being diligent and proactive, Michelle and Kevin, along with her mom and dad, sought out highly recommended cancer experts at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. They met with them and the medical team there has given them hope. She and her family have made the decision to move forward with the treatment, but it comes with a high pricetag, much of which will not be covered by insurance. During the medical trials, Michelle is required to stay in Houston for several days or weeks at a time. Michelle and Kevin both are self-employed with their own businesses, so in addition to the cost of the treatment, travel and lodging, they also will incur a substantial amount of lost time and wages as they battle Michelle’s cancer.

I am starting this fundraiser as a means to help Michelle with the treatment she needs and deserves! My wish and purpose is to raise funds to give financial assistance in travel expenses, food, lodging and of course medical expenses for her and her family! It will take a village, my friends! So many people have reached out, wanting to help and this is a means to do so!!!!
