Michelle’s Electro and Transition Fund

I’m Michelle, a transgender woman and I’ve recently finished the last of my NHS funding for facial hair removal. Facial hair is a particularly bad source of gender dysphoria for me when not kept under control.

Unfortunately due to my naturally red hair when I attempted laser hair removal it was very ineffective and I was forced to go for the longer, more expensive (and painful!) option of electrolysis instead (with less funding because of it being wasted on laser). Even though I’ve had around 20 hours this has been spread out over nearly 4 years with multiple long breaks due to not being able to find a clinic after moving back home from uni and then the clinic not being open due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has also reduced the treatment’s effectiveness.

Ideally, I want to raise enough for another 20 hours but at the bare minimum I need at least another 10 hours of treatment before I’m anywhere near comfortable with certain problem areas. That would be split into 30 minute sessions every three weeks, costing £37.50 a session which I cannot afford after bills and food.

I really don’t want to have another long gap before starting again so I’d like to be in a position to book again ASAP. I really need this and this is the only way I can do it. Anything you can give is deeply appreciated.
