Michelle’s ALS Fund

As many of you know, our sweet mother Michelle, was diagnosed with ALS in February of 2019 and in this past year the disease has progressed significantly.
If you know our mom you know what an incredible friend and light she is in everyone’s life. She is compassionate and kind and goes out of her way for the ones she loves. We have always admired her solicitude and can only hope to give back to her the way she gives to everyone else around her.


ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a neurological disorder that attacks the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord causing nerves and muscles to no longer function. This affects voluntary movement, speech, and even the ability to breathe. We have achingly watched my mother deteriorate, losing function of her hands and her ability to speak as well as her general mobility. There is no cure for ALS but there are many treatments and life adjustments along the way that can make dealing with the symptoms a little bit easier. Many of these treatments and medications are not covered under insurance. From special wheel chairs, to bathroom handicap adjustments, to at home palliative care, the costs are endless and only increasing. As this awful disease progresses her mobility is only getting worse and getting to doctor's appointments or even out of the house have become impossible tasks. This year we hope to get a handicap van that will allow her wheelchair to roll right in to the van. She’ll be able to get to her appointments easier as well as catch those beautiful beach sunsets she loves so much.


This year has brought on a lot of hardships on everyone. But with a van costing upwards of $50k and home care about $100k a year we’ve created this GoFundMe in order to lessen the financial burden on my parents and help us get the care our mother deserves. Anything helps, no matter how small. We thank everyone for all their love and support along the way.
