Michelle's Mission to Empower Women

Hello World Changers! I pray that you are doing well and feeling God’s powerful love being poured out on you. I definitely have and I am excited to share my journey with you.
I will be leaving for Ghana in 3 weeks and will serve there for the remainder of 2016. While in Ghana, I will be working with the women who are living in the Acts 2 Collective Mission Center who have been rescued from human trafficking. Using the 4P model, (prevention, protection, prosecution, and partnership), I believe that we will see an end to human trafficking in Ghana.

In December, I volunteered for Acts 2 Collective
and traveled to the West African country of Ghana. Acts 2 Collective is a non-profit organization that is united in purpose to support mission minded people, churches, and organizations around the world who are working to meet the physical and spiritual needs of their community for the spread of the Gospel. Acts 2 Collective currently has mission centers in 4 African countries that vary from orphan care, drug rehabilitation, and rescuing women from sex trafficking.
While in Ghana, I knew the Lord would fill my heart and take me places I never imagined for myself. I expected to see the orphan, the widow, and the disabled man alike. I expected to feel like I needed to make myself available to serve in Jesus’ mighty name. I expected these things, but when I arrived in Ghana, something different happened.
I was captivated with the people and the culture. I was shocked to see hundreds of children sleeping on the streets and women selling themselves as a sex object in exchange for food. But more than the devastating lifestyle, I was overjoyed with the beauty and love each person had to offer. I learned that I was truly known and loved by Jesus and I wanted everyone I met to know and believe that too. I was truly in awe of the opportunity God had laid before me, leading me into the nations and asking me to make a change. My eyes were opened to the unseen and the beautiful plan God has for each one of us beyond what is visible at the present time.
Since returning home from Ghana in January, it has become clear that God is sending me to go and serve as a vessel to introduce people to Him. God doesn't send those who are equipped, He sends those who are willing. Many nights I prayed that I had it all wrong, that God wasn’t actually sending me of all people. I tried to convince myself that I was crazy, that there was something better for me here in Iowa. The truth is, nothing is better than following God’s plan.
I am prepared to encounter many challenges throughout my time in Ghana and as I prepare for my departure. Your support through prayer can help me as I prepare spiritually and emotionally before my departure, as well as continuous prayer throughout my time in Ghana. In order to leave fully funded in September, my goal is to raise $10,000. This trip is not the cheapest, but I serve a God with infinite numbers in His bank account.
There are a number of things I can think about doing with that amount of money that would align with more of what society would do. I’m sure you read that amount and thought I was completely insane! I couldn’t agree more. My dreams have never been to ask for money. But sometimes, when you choose to walk along side with God, He plants dreams in you and then puts you on a wonderful rollercoaster ride that helps you get to them. I’m happy to take any phone calls to answer questions and share more of my heart with you. If we live in visiting distance, I would love to set up a time face to face to share with you. Expect tears, laughter and joy. Expect that whatever you are able to give will be appreciated and known.
