Michelle Egbertson's Fight for Life

In 2014, our dear friend Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer and very soon after diagnosis underwent double mastectomy surgery which included the removal of lymph nodes that also tested positive for the disease. After a year of numerous infections, emergency surgeries, aggressive chemotherapy, and extensive radiation, we were elated, yet not surprised, that Michelle had kicked cancer’s ass. The entire time she maintained a strength, energy, and perseverance that was and is awe inspiring and damn near unreal.
For so many of us, we each can testify as to the special bond we have developed with her over the years. She is the life of the party that you can count on to lift you up, dust you off, to make you smile, or belt a laugh. She is always happy to lend a hand all to ensure your time in her space is the best spent. To promise you leave with a smile and an unforgettable memory.
The fight is not over - In November (2016), Michelle learned that her breast cancer has returned, and spread to her hip. She again underwent surgery almost immediately, this time having a full hip replacement to aggressively and proactively remove the 3 ½ cm “active” tumor and any cells associated with it.
The fight this time around, as you can probably imagine, must be even more aggressive. Michelle will have to stop working and focus solely on treatment and recovery. It is our hope to aid in relieving the immense financial burdens that now face her as she seeks advanced treatments, effective medical expertise, home care, therapy, and to ensure that her beloved teenage son Keegan has the support he needs while having to see his mom through this.
