Michelle Scott and the Cantankerous Cancer
Donation protected
As many of you may know, my mom, Michelle, was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer in July. It’s been an interesting journey since then, but after a few surgeries to remove the tumor and install the chemo port and a PET scan that came back clear, the only thing left for her to do is go through start her chemotherapy. She starts the TCH on Friday September 17th and will have treatments once every 3 weeks for 6 sessions total – ending on Jan 14th. Even though we’re so glad that the PET scan came back clear and that the surgeries done to remove the tumor were successful and that the prognosis for the results of the chemo is good, we know the kind of stress that going through chemo is going to bring.
Michelle has a wonderful job that is lined up and waiting for her once her treatments are completed. They are holding the position for her to start after everything is done so that she doesn’t have to worry about extra insurance costs OR the potential of her new insurance not covering it as she had already been diagnosed when she got the job. Until she is able to start her new job, we’d like to raise money to alleviate the stress of having to work to survive from her so she can focus on healing and recovering. Right now, mom is driving for DoorDash as her main source of income, however while she is undergoing chemo treatments there will be times where it will be difficult for her to feel able to do so. She will of course still drive when she’s able because she’s a strong independent woman who doesn’t know how to not help others and work, but we’re hoping that through this fundraiser we can create a safe space for her to feel comfortable financially if she doesn’t have the energy to work some days.
Mom is an incredibly strong human being who has gone out of her way so many times for her family, her kids, and perfect strangers. She’s done so much for others, we want to return the favor in this time of need. She has a hard time accepting help but in this situation she could really use a little support and love.
Please join us in supporting her by providing finances so she can live without stress while she battles cancer. We appreciate every donation and are incredibly grateful to all who can contribute! If you can't contribute then we ask that you keep her in your prayers and hearts as she tackles her biggest challenge so far. Here's a bonus picture that she's going to be probably quite upset at me for. Sorry, mom but it's staying up!
