Michelle "Shelle" Lamb Moone was recently diagnosed with A.L.L. Leukemia. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (A.L.L.) is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow that affects the white blood cells. This form of leukemia is a very rare, dangerous, and aggressive and the only cure requires a stem transplant.
Shelle has been a patient at The Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, Illinois since October. Her family, friends, and loved ones have created this gofundme page to help cover the cost of treatment, medication, travel, and healthcare expenses to reach remission and eventually bone marrow transplant.
Before becoming ill with this terminal disease, Shelle was the Vice Chancellor of Human Resources at the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She believes that education is important in the evolution of society, hence the reason she was employed at several Universities, from Howard University to University of Maryland. When this shocking cancer struck, she was being courted by several universities at that time, but had to put her career on hold to deal with this sudden illness.
Anyone who knows Michelle knows that she would rather give than receive. She’s the type of person who gives so much that it never occurs to her to ask for help when she’s in need. She never hesitates to help a friend in need and is a giver in every aspect one could think of. It’s not just monetary, she provides so much more; you need a job…call Michelle, she’ll get your resume in prime shape; Broken hearted….she gives you the spiritual and/or emotional boost to get you through. Michelle is a well of resource that many people have benefited from. Our prayer is that she begins to reap all that wonderful blessings she has sowed in so many lives.
Since her diagnosis in October, she has discovered a new meaning of life and seeks to help others and to increase the awareness of Leukemia. Her family and friends have all rallied around her and are doing their best to be there for her at every turn. However, since she is currently unemployed, her Cobra payments and medical expenses are beginning to take its toll on her financially, and finances are the last thing a Cancer patient should have to think about. She still has to undergo many months of Chemo before moving towards a bone marrow transplant which includes months of follow-up care. The family has been able to get her monthly expenses down to $3,500. $3,500 x 12 months = $42,000. That’s the minimum we need to get her through this upcoming year.
Let’s join together and help Michelle fight cancer and ensure that our girl gets the best medical help out here. Any donation amount is appreciated but if we can get 420 people to give $100 that give us the $42k we need to get her through the next 12 months. If you don’t have $100, please don’t let that stop you from giving, we appreciate $5 just as much as we do $500.
Thank you for any contribution and may God bless you!
