Help us say poroporoaki (goodbye in Maori) to our “sister” Michelle.
We are the Senior Sisters & Charge Nurses of Wexham Park A&E, and we are fundraising to help the husband and family of our beloved colleague to pay for her funeral.
Our colleague Michelle came to the UK from New Zealand 30 years ago and over the last 15 years in A&E where she worked as a senior sister, she had seen it all. From Ebola to Zika, through Swine flu to Covid, she brought warmth, compassion, empathy, humour and a wealth of knowledge to our team. A true A&E nurse, she was a fierce advocate for her patients and her colleagues, never afraid to stand or speak up for those who couldn’t. With an ever-present coffee, a wicked sense of humour and her trademark Doc Martens, we were so blessed to have her in our lives.
But due to a sudden illness, she was taken from her husband, her children, her grandson and all of us much too soon. We will never be able to replace her, and we are all the worse off for her loss in our lives. So we would like to give this very special lady the send off she deserves. We hope you can help us achieve our goal.
