Michelle's Living Memorial Making Dreams Come True

Hello, I am Michelle Harrison, co-founder of The Rainbow Society, which you may now know as The Dream Factory. Since 1983, this charity has been my heart and soul, dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses in Manitoba, Canada. As I face my own journey with terminal lung cancer, my final wish is a living memorial: to raise funds for this charity that has given so much to others and to me.

The Beginnings of a Dream

In 1983, together with my dear friend Linda, I embarked on a mission to bring light into the lives of children facing life-threatening illnesses. As a single mother and a driven entrepreneur, I was motivated by a simple yet powerful idea: every child deserves to have their dream come true. Our first major success was arranging for a young boy to meet his hero, Wayne Gretzky, setting the stage for many more wishes to follow.

Overcoming Challenges

Our journey wasn't without its hurdles. From finding resources to navigating the unique needs of each child, Linda and I faced each challenge with determination. Our shared vision kept us going, even when we stepped away from the charity's day-to-day operations in 1995.

Personal Reflections and Growth

Now, as I navigate my terminal battle with lung cancer, I reflect on how much strength I've drawn from these incredible children. Their courage and joy in the face of adversity have been a guiding light for me, teaching me how to face my illness with grace and poise.
