Fundraiser for Michelle Gehrke's Parents

Hi everyone. We work with Michelle Gehrke and we are reaching out to you with a plea for your support.

As some of you may already know, Michelle spends most her time providing around-the-clock care for her aging parents. Recent turn of events has brought about additional treatments and hospital visit, which has caused an increase in mounting financial burden which the family is unable to maintain. Like many of our parents, they are on limited budget and insurance is not covering many of the test and treatments and as a result, bills are being paid out-of-pocket.

So far, her mom has had 9 surgeries in the past 2 1/2 years before falling and breaking her femur in November. She had a rod and 9 screws put in her leg. She spent a little over a week in the hospital before going to a rehab facility and we are waiting for her release. She will be expected to have another surgery in March to again fix her prolapse, so long road to recovery ahead.

Her dad fell two days after her mom and broke his orbital floor. Because the bones shattered near his ocular nerve they are unable to do surgery as the risk is too high. But just as he was beginning the healing process, her dad suffered a cardiac event that put him back in the hospital on New Year's Eve.

Later this month, both parents are expected to be released from hospital care and returned to their home. In anticipation of their return, medical beds and wheelchair assistance is needed for both her parents. Some expenses are covered but rest are again, out-of-pocket. They will also be needing to install a ramp to their home as its not wheelchair friendly in the current state.

We are reaching out to our community, friends, and well-wishers to request your support. We are seeking to raise $20,000 to cover the escalating medical costs, ongoing treatment, and rehabilitation, for Michelle's parents. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference.
