Hi everyone! My name is Candace Niehaus, I have an amazing co-worker and friend of mine Michelle that needs our help! I had the honor to work with Michelle for quit some time while working in the Emergency Department! She was one of our security guards. She was always keeping our ER staff safe and always went the extra mile for us. I want to do the same for her..in her time of need. Michelle attended a BBQ on 4th of July and of course she ate the yummy food! Well unfortunately on July 8th Michelle grew very sick. She went to the ER and was admitted to the hospital. Michelle caught a ( e coli bacterial infection) from the food that she ate that shut down her kidneys. She spent several weeks in Transitional Care Unit (step down from the ICU) where she received temporary dialysis but as of this past week she received a permanent port for her dialysis treatments. With lots of prayers and amazing nurses and doctors that took care of her, she is now in rehab where she will learn to write and retain her fine motor skills for the next 2 weeks. All together Michelle has been in the hospital for over 25 days. This of course was a unplanned event for her. As everyone knows medical bills aren't cheap and She will be out of work for quit some time! She is a single mom and will be coming home to bills that are going to be hard to pay.
