Help Michelle further her stroke recovery
Donation protected
On 8/11/2021, I suffered an ischemic stroke caused by chronic high blood pressure. A year and a half later, my BP is completely under control and I’m doing good.
But, there is a chance that I could be doing fantastic.
Through a stroke group I’m in on Facebook, I found The Institute of Neurological Recovery run by Dr Tobinick in Boca Raton. His facility offers hope to stroke survivors, like myself.
The drug Etanercept (Enbrel) is prescribed and FDA approved for the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis, however, Dr Tobinick, uses it off label, not FDA approved to reduce the swelling in the brain that is caused by a stroke. He cannot and does not guarantee that it will work for every patient he treats. It could help with my walking steadiness, left side control, bladder control, speech, memory, numbness/warming on right side, sleep, swelling in ankles/feet and depression or it could only help with some or it might not help at all. If it works, it could take anywhere from 5 mins to 1 month to see the effectiveness. The treatment has been effective for about 80% of his patients. The downside to the treatment is the cost, each injection of the drug, for my case, is 8400$. He suggested 2 injections, 7-10 days apart. He is currently scheduling for July 2023.
I appreciate any and all shares and/or donations to help me reach my goal, so that I can have this procedure done. It would be amazing to have part of myself back.
You can find more information about Dr Tobinick, his facility and the procedure on their website wwwstrokebreakthrough.com or their Facebook.
