On 13 May 2019 Michelle's Step Father was mowing hiw lawn in Hanford, CA on his riding mower. A tree in the yard fell and killed him instantly. Michelle's mother Carolyn found him when he did not come in on time. She is in her 70s a retired RN. She took his death very hard and was not "wishing to go on". She rarely ate and slept as she mourned her loss. Michelle, being one of 3 children took a leave of absence from work and joined her daughter in Hanford in hopes of cheering Carolyn up a bit. Her daughter left a couple of days before and Michelle was scheduled to fly out of Fresno on the 26th of July. I was suppose to pick her up at the airport on 27 July. The evening of 26th July I received a phone call from her daughter asking if I had heard about the accident. I asked her to call me. Apparently on 26th July Michelle left her mother's home around noon to meet her friend that was going to take her to the airport. Less than a mile from her mother's, she was driving her mom's 2011 Lincoln Town Car when she stopped at a stop sign northbound on 6th Ave and crossed Houston Ave. To her right was an orchard with brances overhanging the obstructed her view to her right. She pulled out without clearing the intersection. She may have looked but it was too late. She was "t_boned" by a Chev SUV at 60 mph. She was transported to Visalis Delt Emergency room and placed on a medically induced coma for 2 days due to brain bleeds. A brain pressure sensor was placed on the front top of her head to monitor the pressure. After two days it was removed as the bleeds stopped. The medically induced sedation was stopped and she regain conscience after 4 days. She has since improved physically and has finally become verbal. Now the reason for the gofundme request is that due to out of state insurance coverage it has been very difficult to receive clear answers from the hospital her or her insurance through her employer a hospital in Lincoln, NE. Currently between the two, they are attempting to set up a medivac transfer to move her from Visalia to Lincoln. We don't know the cost nor what insurance may cover. Therefore I am humbly requesting assistance in raising one million dollars to cover her medical bills in Visalia for about one month of ICU, ICU stepdown and med-surge cost. We may also be responsible for a portion or all of the medivac cost. Our personal funds are limited therefore I request these funds to cover those cost. I promise as a retired US Marine Gunnery Sergeant and an "off duty" Lincoln Airport Police Dept. that any money rasied in excess of acutal cost will be donated to a non-profit medical research organization to closest alings to her condition. Thank you for taking the time to read this. On the day of the accident, she had completed 451 days of consecutive running a minum of 3 miles every day outside. She was up to 10.3 miles in training for her first 1/2 marathon. Her mother has giving me permission to "walk away" as I have no legal obligations. Well folks, if you know Marines, we don't walk away from anything. John Faz
