Maria Cole and I are writing today to share a friend’s story, Michelle Borer grew up along side us in Emerson, NJ attending grammar, middle and high school here. Michelle is currently a single mom living in Emerson, where her son, Alfonso also attended school. Michelle is the only sister in the family of 7. If you grew up in town and don’t know Michelle, you likely know one of her brothers.

In October Michelle was diagnosed with lung cancer. Luckily the disease was found very early before Michelle exhibited any symptoms. Michelle had surgery in November to remove the small tumor and one lobe of her lung, she is doing very well and just finished the second of 4 chemotherapy treatments.

Like many of us, Michelle has a high-deductible insurance plan, requiring her to make out-of-pocket payments of at least $12,500 in both 2022 and 2023. We are hoping to ease this burden for Michelle so that she can concentrate on healing and recovering over the next many months.
