My name is Laura and I'm trying to get some help for Michelle/Haflinger Haven in St. Joseph, Illinois. Haflinger Haven is a retirement home for Haflingers that need a home for various reasons. Michelle funds most of the care of these gorgeous animals on her own. Haflinger Haven is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
Michelle has had a rough couple of months at her farm. She took on a horse from an auction even though she was at full capacity. This horse has eye cancer but was found on arrival to also have ringbone, which is not treatable. She recently had 2 horses in ICU for a week after getting into something they were not supposed to (someone left a door open). She's had several colic cases and some euthanasia cases also. But Monday night was the icing on the cake when a beloved horse by many got cast under a door late in the evening. It took a mountain of people to help and he is in the hospital at this time. She is overwhelmed; she feels guilty, but it is not her fault. These things happen sometimes. Her expenses have been astronomical with all of these cases happening so close to one another.
I thought it would be a good idea to ask the community of horse lovers, friends, and mostly Haffie lovers to come to Michelle's aid and give a small donation. She is devastated at all that has happened, and emotionally it is draining. The worry is immense, and she has to carry on with all the daily chores of taking care of these horses.
Acts 20:35 Paul quotes Jesus as saying, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Amen & amen. Thank you if you are able to help Michelle in any way. She also has an Amazon wish list, and all donations are tax-deductible.
