Michell is On a Mission

"It is every man's obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it." -Albert Einstein

As you may know, I have been practicing as a physician assistant since 2010. Since then, I have been inspired by many PAs who have given their service to those around the world who go without the basic healthcare that is so readily available to us in the United States of America. My sister, Ali, is also a physician assistant and we've been talking for a while now about the importance of using our training and experience to benefit those who are less fortunate.

On November 15,  2018, Ali is going to celebrate her 30th birthday. Her wish this year is for the two of us to manifest our intention by way of a medical mission! On November 14, we will be joining the Global Health Reach team and traveling to Santa Apolonia, Guatemala where we will set up a primary care clinic. For three days, we will provide the most basic of healthcare services to a region of 40,000 inhabitants of the Guatemalan Highlands who are currently served by only one physician.

Global Health Reach is a non-profit organization based in Texas. Their purpose is to establish relationships with medically underserved populations throughout the world, understand their specific needs, and address them with the ultimate goal of improving the total health and wellness of each community.

I have set up this GoFundMe page to ask for your support in making this mission a reality. I am financially responsible for $1,800 to cover the cost of my donation to GHR, airfare, personal medical supplies and miscellaneous costs like insurance. The donation to GHR is used to cover the cost of medical supplies, medicine, translators, lodging, meals and transportation.

I am firm in my belief that living well requires service to others! This trip is another vehicle for me to give of myself, and your support is so much appreciated!

Finally, I am hoping to inspire you to find a way that you can also serve those who are less fortunate. You don't have to travel to another country or even leave your home to do so! Any act of kindness toward others is an opportunity to spread the love, understanding and hope that you will likely need along your own journey!

In Gratitude,

Michell
