Hi everyone
I never thought I would be writing something like this, but our family is going through a really difficult time and we’re asking for support for someone who means so much to us, my stepmom, Michele.
Michele is the kind of person who is selfless, compassionate, and someone that others turn to when they need comfort and compassion. Even throughout her own cancer journey, she has been an advocate for others, offering support, guidance, and comfort to people walking the same road she’s on. She has always been lifting others up… and now she needs us.
In March of 2017, Michele was first diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. Following this diagnosis, she endured 16 rounds of chemotherapy, underwent a double mastectomy in September of 2017, and then pushed through 35 rounds of radiation. By Christmas of that same year, she was cancer free.
But her journey didn’t end there.
Over the past few years, Michele's cancer has metastasized multiple times, each time forcing her to fight all over again. And now, we're facing the most difficult chapter yet.
Recently, we learned that her cancer has spread significantly to her brain. Doctors have identified multiple lesions, along with a larger mass, and she will be undergoing multiple full brain radiation treatments in the coming weeks.
Not too long ago, Michele also lost her own mom to cancer, along with several other members of her family. Loss has weighed deeply on all of us, and just as we’ve been trying to find our footing again, we are now facing another heartbreaking battle.
As Michele begins treatment, she will have to step away from work for an unknown amount of time. The reality of cancer is not just physical and emotional, it’s also financial and insurance only covers so much. Between treatments, appointments, medications, and everyday living expenses, the burden quickly becomes overwhelming.
That’s why we are asking for help.
If you are able to donate, even something small, it will go directly toward:
Medical treatments and related expenses
Transportation to and from appointments
Daily living costs for my family while she is unable to work
Additional care and support during radiation
If you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this means just as much. The more people who see Michele’s story, the more support we can surround her with.
Michele has spent years fighting, not just for herself, but for others. She has shown strength in ways that inspire everyone around her. Right now, we are asking for help to give that strength back to her.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she begins this next phase of her fight. We are holding onto hope, leaning on each other, and doing everything we can to support her through this.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, for sharing it, and for standing with our family during one of the hardest times we’ve faced.
With love,
Ash
