Michele Dawson’s Recovery

Donation protected

My name is Monica Lavoie and I’m
raising money for My darling baby sister Michele Dawson to help pay bills,
mortgage, traveling expenses and
medical expenses for herself her
husband Jason and her 3 amazing
children.

Michele Dawson was struck with Viral
Meningitis.
On the September 15th 2020 Michele
wasn’t feeling that great. Her and her
husband Jason and young son Jakota had been out hunting almost every day, but
that day Michele wasn’t feeling good so
they stayed home. She had a terrible
headache and slept most of the day.
Around  9:30 that evening she had gone
to the bathroom.. the kids heard a big
thump noise and called to their Dad to
check on Mommy in the bathroom. Jason went in to find Michele on the floor having a seizure. He yelled to Jakota to call
911. It was a terrifying night for all.
She was rushed in to the Golden Hospital and stayed overnight. They sent her to
Cranbrook the next day by Ambulance
for a CT Scan and MRI. Jason and their 3 kids followed in the truck. The kids were not allowed in the hospital due to COVID-19. And so waited in the truck most of
the day.
For some reason they released Michele  that night. She still had a terrible headache but wasn’t seizuring. They stayed in
Cranbrook and came home the next day. Michele was supposed to go in and see
her regular Dr.
She still had terrible head pain. She was
re-admitted to Golden Hospital on
Friday September 18th.
The MRI showed swelling and bleeding
on the brain!:(
By this time they had Michele fully
sedated as she was seizuring all the time. They made the decision to send her to
Kelowna for more specialized care. Jason again followed in his truck leaving their 3 children, Emma 14, Jakota 12 and lil Brooke 9 with me (Michele’s Sister)
When Jason is allowed in he is beside Michele.. her strongest advocate. Due to the COVID-19 it has been challenging. It was in Kelowna that Viral Meningitis was diagnosed.
They kept Michele in a coma state as they tried to come up with the right mix of medications to stop her seizures. They could only try once every day. Thankfully on September 28th, 9 days after getting taken to Kelowna and 14 days after her first seizure they found the right mix of seizure medications for her. They slowly started pulling her out of her Coma state. She is weak at the moment, not walking and seems to have some short term memory loss. We are all hoping and praying for a full recovery but are not sure what the future holds yet and what their new normal will be.
Michele will have a long road to recovery. Jason has been off work since and will need to be off for some time as they negotiate around Michele’s recovery.
We are hoping to raise some money to help Jason and Michele. Jason will be able to collect CU and C but bills and mortgage still need to be paid at home. Jason will be staying in Kelowna as long as Michele is there and will have those expenses as well. We are not sure how long they will have to be in Kelowna for.
Once Michele is able to come home Jason will still need to be by her side for awhile as they get therapy and Dr appointments set up here in Golden and I’m sure many Dr’s appointments in Kelowna as well.
Michele is of course not able to drive at this time.
We just want to alleviate this bit of stress from Jason so he can more fully concentrate on being there for Michele and helping her to recover. He is her strength and rock.
Any little bit will help.
Thank you sincerely from us their Family and Michele, Jason, Emma, Jakota and Brooke
