Hi!
My name is Michal Szpak and I am a independent filmmaker.
I recently moved to Austin from Houston to finish up a Bachelor of Arts degree in Digital Film Making and Video Production at The Art Institute of Austin in addition to having already earned my BA in Professional Acting from my home country, Poland.
- I have had many years of opportunities of working on a wide range of productions, from assisting in the production of short films in Warsaw and Houston to being a part of commercial productions.
- I am an aspiring film producer with a passion for “based on true story” films, as well as multicultural films.
- I most recently coordinated the production of the play “God of Carnage” in which I produced, directed, and acted in the exhibition and gratefully received wonderful reviews for its success.
- I am skilled in managing, coordinating, and maintaining lasting relationships with all members of the crew and actors. I am also experienced in technical acting, camera/audio equipment and lighting. I am passionately committed to creating films that enlighten people about the truth in culture.
Now is my next step. I am making my first short movie.
The goal is to enter for 17th Austin Polish Film Festival 2022.
I have great people with me, I have a story, but I need some funds to complete the budget.
Funds will go for cover :
- Cast & Crew
- Rental cost for equipment
- Special Effects MakeUp
- Catering for a Crew
- Expense of gas
- Artwork for marketing
- Post Production work
Below you can find a storyline. The last thing from me is to ask all of you, my friends, family, people of art and all of you who would like to support the beginning of my Film career - to raise any form of money. Please and thank you, I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

—— Storyline ——
Polish immigrant, Aleksander, recently moved to America in search of peace and a better life. Hoping for a distraction from the grim reality of a war hitting too close to his home country, Aleksander finds work as a driver for a rideshare company. Meeting all kinds of interesting people as he gets to know his new city, his dreams of a brighter future seem closer than ever.
Aleksander’s hopeful perspective takes a disappointing turn after a brief encounter of picking up a distraught passenger, Ashleigh. Suddenly, Aleksander is faced with the harsh realization that the dreams he was searching for may be closer to fantasy rather than reality.
