I'm a career singer and performer. I love what I do more than anything in the world. I am truly blessed to be so lucky to be able to entertain and bring joy to people. I am embarrassed to be asking people for help at this point in my life, but I want to be here and keep singing for a long time. I've tried virtually everything to lose weight, and after multiple health challenges, including a heart attack and a subsequent triple bypass, it becomes more difficult by the day.
People have asked: "Doesn't your insurance cover it?" No. I have very good insurance through The Affordable Care Act, but they refuse to pay for any kind of Bariatric surgery, especially in Florida. In some states, they will, but I haven't moved to one of them yet. So, I have investigated options and have discovered a way to have gastric sleeve surgery affordably through medical tourism. I can safely and securely and yes, sanitarily, go to Mexico to have this procedure done at a fraction of the cost of a US hospital. I have friends who have done it and their success has encouraged me.
I need to raise approximately 7000. Initially, it was thought to be 6000, but there is a higher cost associated with someone of my high body mass index. However, it's infinitely less expensive than the 30 k hospitals want here's in the US. On an actor's salary, that would take years to save up over and above my rent and utilities, and at this point, I'm afraid I don't have years to spare. I know times are difficult, but any amount would be a blessing. Again, this is not something I'm particularly thrilled about asking for, but At this point, I have nothing to lose but the weight and I can get my life back. Please share this and if you can help, thank you.
