Hello, my name is Sara Lucas, and this fundraiser is on behalf of my little brother Michael Olson and his loving family. His dedicated wife is Joyce, and they have two beautiful daughters, Anya (7) and Alina (2). In December 2021, Michael was diagnosed with Duodenal Cancer, which is a rare and aggressive cancer of the small bowel. Since December, he has unfortunately spent very much time in the Emergency Room and as an inpatient in the hospital. The cancer did spread, and he faced numerous complications. For those that know Michael, you know how much of a fighter he is and how strong he has truly been through this very difficult and emotionally trying time. The cancer was a ferocious beast and, devastatingly, after only four short months, took this kind and beautiful soul from our family. While we are completely heartbroken, we are also so grateful for the outpouring of generosity and support from family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, church members, and other community members during this difficult time. It has been such a blessing, and we really appreciate it. Joyce has been at his side almost 24 hours a day, working tirelessly caring for her beloved husband while still trying to be a mom and taking care of her home. Michael passed away at home on April 4, 2022, surrounded by family in his loving home as were his wishes. Please consider helping this beautiful family during this difficult time. Many medical bills have accumulated during this time, as you might imagine, as well as funeral costs. Joyce has been a stay-at-home mom and homeschool teacher for her girls. While Michael did have life insurance coverage, the overwhelming medical debt and the future care of the girls were a top priority to him in always planning- prompting me to complete this promise to my brother to further support his wishes in, of course, thinking of others first:) Thank you so much for the continued support, and please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
