I am Michael Superbacker.

My car’s AC died after fixing the AC pump for $750, now the car is literally falling apart. I need to get a new car to get around, or at least fix the AC on my old car. The power steering does not work either. It would help my life immensely. This summer I almost passed out from heat stroke with the car reaching internal temperatures of 100 degrees. My mechanic said a different part of the AC system failed. He said I need a new AC evaporator coil and that is only reachable by removing the steering wheel and dashboard costing more labor. The price for that is around $1,500-$2,000. For this fundraiser I would love to at least fix the AC and the power steering system needs to be replaced or it will not pass inspection.If more money is raised, then I can buy a newer used car. My car is a rusty 2010 ford focus with almost 170,000 miles on it. I also fixed the power steering system earlier in the year with a new power steering rack that cost around $1,500. But the power steering is still having issues after all that. Sometimes it doesn’t work until the car warms up, but at low speeds forget about it! My 15 year old car has seen better days, and I think it’s time for a newer used car. I wrote this first draft months ago, but I never published it, because I felt ashamed for asking for help. Not only was the car an issue with the extreme heat, but with the heat and combined stress, lead me to develop a shingles outbreak. I was out of work for 3 weeks unpaid.
