In January 2020, our dear brother and brother in-law, Michael Papadimitriou, age 50, had a series of strokes that left him with devastating disabilities. Prior to this, Michael, worked as lieutenant at Osceola County Fire Rescue. He was a paramedic/firefighter for 25 years, and was preparing for his well-deserved retirement.
After Michael suffered his last catastrophic stroke in May 2020, Michael became confined to his bed or wheelchair. He has lost his ability to speak, and his movement is only limited to his left side. Of course we are all hopeful and he surprises us everyday; he smiles and laughs- understanding humor and loving the connection he has with his friends and family- whether they are in-person or via FaceTime.
At this time, Michael’s condition is stable and doctors have also recommended that Michael “get out and live his life!” If anyone knows Michael, he was always taking rides in his Jeep to “run errands”, going to watch Nicolas’ soccer games, attending every school event, and socializing with his friends or neighbors.
So many have asked how to help, our hope is we raise enough to money to enable Dawn to buy a handicap van enabling her to take Michael to his medical appointments, but also the allow a little freedom for Michael to get out and try to enjoy life. Any amount helps us to reach our goal. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
