Michael Daneau's Transplant Fund
Donation protected
Michael is an amazing, loving, hardworking Father of 4 beautiful daughters, who after MUCH reluctance, has allowed me to finally post one of these. Even though... He is continuing to NAG at me, as I write this! :-P
We almost lost Michael 2 years ago, he was in pre-aneurysm/stroke stages due to his blood pressure reaching an unthinkable high (230/137). Through much testing it was discovered that Michael has a rare kidney disease called IgA Nephropathy. This is a disease that attacks the kidneys; there is not a cure for IgA Nephropathy however a kidney transplant will save his life. Even once a kidney transplant is done there is a high risk and likelihood that that disease will attack the transplanted kidney and Michael may need another transplant(s) later in life
He has been treated with an aggressive steroid therapy in hopes that the steroids would preserve and protect his kidneys to prevent a kidney transplant until later in life. Unfortunately the disease has taken a strong hold on his kidneys and he is currently at about 15% kidney function, so a transplant is needed as soon as possible.
Family and Friends are in the testing process to find out if they qualify as living kidney donors.
The beginning of 2014, when all this began, Michael was put on disability for 9 months. The pay from disability was not enough to support our family, so Michael asked his nephrologist if he could return to work. Michael continues to work as much and as often as he can to support our Family. Some weeks he gets in close to a full week but other weeks he is too sick and weak to get out of bed.
We currently live in a mobile, in poor condition with a host of issues like leaks, mold, etc causing a severe health risk to Michael’s already suppressed health, and our family’s health as well. In addition, the neighborhood is not the safest for our kids to grow up in.
Our goal is to raise enough money to get Michael and our Family moved into a healthy and safe living environment prior to his transplant in addition to raising funds to help with expenses through his transplant process (pre, surgery, post).
After Michael's first kidney transplant, he will require around the clock care, along with weekly visits to UC Davis to monitor his recovery. We have a huge support system and we are ever so grateful for every single one of you who have helped us on our journey.
Thank you for your love, support, thoughts and prayers! We love and appreciate you all!
