My name is Michael Kesler and I'm homeless with my eight year old Husky, Roxy in Los Angeles, CA.

Following a rough 2023 where I was laid off from my Project Manager role, the loss of my grandparents (who raised me), and a divorce that was finalized without my knowledge, I was left in a bad spot. With the job market being so challenging, I accepted an unassuming role at an MLM that ultimately gutted my personal and professional network and after a year, laid me off after I became homeless.

I had been actively looking for roles since February 2023 but have been extremely unfortunate in this market. After thousands of job applications, I realized that I needed to pivot and I actually started a business consultancy while homeless and most recently, a streaming career on Twitch where I earn revenue every month as a Twitch Affiliate. Combined with my TikTok Affiliate earnings, I accidentally began a live-streaming career while I was on the street.

I had hoped to check into a shelter after my eviction but discovered that most shelters won't accept dogs due to health code concerns. Additionally, I was surprised to discover that in Southern California, there is one (1) bed for approximately every three (3) homeless residents in the county. Due to no shelters accepting my dog, her age and health, as well as a teetering economy, we've landed at "rent the cheapest flippin pet friendly Motel each night" and work on my personal growth, just in front of the camera :)

We could really use your help. We're a approximately a year away from our name coming up on the Section 8 list and even that date is obscure. Since our eviction, securing housing has been an obstacle as the bad job, unstable commission income, and the draining of my savings at my job led to a straight eviction after I wouldn't lie to pay off my rental arrears. Additionally, my dogs breed is on a lot of banned lists at properties. She's a sweet heart but it presents an additional obstacle when hunting for an affordable deal.

I've been working each day to rejoin society and play my role and take what I've learned and experienced and return to my philanthropic ways by helping others so that they don't have to experience what I've gone through.

At this time, after thousands of ghosted job applications, apartment inquiries, the rising cost of living, and the need to get into a more stable living environment, I have decided to pursue van life!

This is journey is going to be both challenging and extremely rewarding. While I don't have a lot of answers to the how, what, or when, I do know that with some hard work, determination, and a little support that this can be extremely fun and rewarding and an exiting content creation opportunity for my new streaming career.
