Michael’s story:

In 2017, Michael was athletic young man with his whole life ahead of him. He had a love for knowledge, art, the environment and a passion for cycling and soccer! He was senior at UTD studying arts & technology and neuroscience. On November 14, 2017, he was riding a motorcycle and a car pulled in front of him. It was a tragic accident for all involved.

He was in a coma for a few weeks, on full life support, with extensive injuries including systemic brain damage and was not expected to survive. Against all odds, he emerged from the coma and started the long road to recovery including full time in-patient rehab, out-patient rehab, and a total of ten surgeries. He has come a long way in his journey and is ready to again embrace the things he loves! His physical limitations, including left leg amputation and left arm paralyses, are not stopping him from looking for a way to pursue cycling and art.

Many who know and love Michael have asked, “What can I do.” We have an idea! Let’s give him the joy of cycling again. He has been test riding recumbent bikes and has found the one he LOVES. It can be retrofit to allow full right hand controls. He already has a personalized cycling prosthetic which was donated.

He’s ready. Help us make this happen.
