Help Michael Wilson get a cochlear implant!

Donation protected
As some of you know, last February Michael fainted while in the bathroom, hitting his head on several surfaces leading to an occipital fracture and nerve damage in multiple areas of his brain.

As a result he's lost hearing in his right ear as well as 40% of his sense of smell and most of his sense of taste. If you're unaware of this it's because Michael has always been positive about the situation and recovery and has never been one to seek sympathy from others. But, as his roommate and best friend, I've seen the toll it's taken on his personal and professional life. In addition to healing, he's learning to operate day-to-day with limited hearing, recurring headaches, and general disorientation.

For my birthday I want to help him raise the funds necessary to supplement his insurance for a cochlear implant. While spontaneous nerve regeneration is possible, his doctor said he should plan on coping with his loss of senses in the long term. To read more about this procedure you can go to https://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/cochlear-implants .

Michael is one of the most empathic people I have ever met and I have no doubt he would be the first to help someone in need, but right now he needs our help. While implants typically cost $30,000 - $50,000 without insurance, I've set the goal at $4,000 because I know it's a lot to ask of our friends. Thank you for taking time to read this and hopefully for donating whatever amount you can. We love you, Michael!
