In memory of Michael Whitson

On September 22, 2023, we tragically lost Michael Whitson at the young age of 33. Michael had the whole world in front of him, but his life was unexpectedly cut short. When the ambulance arrived, he had already lost a significant amount of blood internally do to an unknown injury. the surgeons tried to work as fast as they could to repair the damage but his liver was unable to produce the necessary clotting factors to stop the bleeding on its own.

The doctors and nurses at the hospital worked tirelessly for more than 30 hours, administering countless pints of blood in an attempt to stabilize him and control the bleeding. Unfortunately, Michael's body couldn't withstand the severity of the situation, and we had to say our final goodbyes at 5:31 PM.

The doctors suspect that Michael's liver failure was a result of a hereditary autoimmune disease. Based on their recommendation, the family plans to conduct an autopsy to closely examine his liver and body for markers that could provide insight into the specific cause. This information may also help prevent a similar fate for his 4-year-old son and provide the family with answers.

Michael's final wishes were for his friends to release his ashes while making passes in their racecars. his whole life was around his son and racecars.
