Hello my name is

Denise and I am the cousin of Michael Soo. I am writing this on behalf of Michael’s daughter Kristin. Kristin as well as the rest of his extended family are all very devastated by the unexpected passing of Michael. Mike had a genuine love and kindness in his heart. His time here didn’t go as he had probably expected but many of our lives turn out that way. Mike was born in 1970 in an apartment his parents lived in SF. He has older brother Bryan whom he was extremely close with. The Soo famIly moved to their family home on Hanson Drive where they had beautiful family life. The family was deeply effected by the death of their mom Helen in 1999. She was taken way to early by a horrible and painful disease we know as bone cancer. Almost 10 years later Michael’s best friend and brother suddenly passed away at a young age. In his 40’s Mike learned he had kidney failure and he began dialysis for almost 7 years until he was given a transplant. Things were turning around in his new life with a new organ. However during this time Mike’s dad became ill and had suffered a heart attack. His father passed away a few weeks after Mike had been given a new life. This was very devastating to Mike to realize his immediate family was gone. He was so blessed to have his daughter Kristin by his side.

A couple years ago Mike moved to Florida . He was greatly missed by Kristin and his cousins, aunts and friends. Life had been difficult for Mike but he was looking forward to moving back to California. Unfortunately he didn’t get that chance and Michael Soo passed away on Feb 18, 2024. Kristin, Michael and Sheila’s daughter, as next of kin, has to plan for events that need to take place. Kristin is 24 and is not working due to health reasons of her own and is on disability. Many have asked how they can help which is extremely appreciated. As her aunt I have started a Go Fund me account to help her out during this emotional period. We realize times are difficult .
