Michael VanVleet Sr. Fight Pancreatic Cancer
Donation protected
Hi guys,
I never thought I'd be the one having to do this. Only July 24th, my dad was rushed to the emergency room for several concerning symptoms. He arrived at the hospital after traveling on the road for work Jaundiced, Lethargic, and in excruciating pain. 12 months prior my dad was diagnosed with CLL (a type of blood cancer) and he beat the odds and went into remission. Unfortunately on July 24th little did I know my world would shatter. After extensive testing, 3 CT Scans, 2 Ultra-Sounds, and 1 MRI it was unclear what the cause was, all the imaging came up clear with the exceptions of the lungs which showed nodules the doctors first believed to be scar tissue from the Leukemia treatment and insisted it wasn't cancer, we were thrilled. They still weren't certain so they scheduled a scope procedure and that is when everything changed. They located a 2.5cm mass at the head of the pancreas near his bile duct and other imaging test showed possible spread to the liver and lymph nodes, and his lungs. He was given 6 months without treatment and 1 year possibly with treatment. My dad and I haven't always been close but when he was diagnosed with Leukemia we grew closer than ever before and he is my best friend. I never got to spend much time with my dad as he was an "over-the-road truck driver and always worked his ass off. Unfortunately due to this, I've had to leave my job to work from home, and I moved him in with me so I can help care for him. I cannot do this alone. I'm currently balancing this on soley my income alone with no kind of government assistance at this time while we let the government do their thing. I humbly ask for any donations, prayers, and good thoughts anyone can give. I may not be able to save my dad, but I would like to help ease any worries or financial burdens to give him the best 6 months this man could ever have. Every little bit helps. I will post updates through his journey and keep you all in the loop. These funds will be used for travel expenses, medical expenses, medications, food, bills, and his overall well-being. I humbly come before you in my time of need. I'm hoping we can fight this together.
Kindly,
Michael VanVleet Jr.
