Michael Turner's Legacy Fund

Donation protected
Michael Turner passed away unexpectedly on  March 23, 2019 from an apparent heart attack. He leaves behind his cherished daughters, Madison (18) and Megan (14) with no  security for their futures.

Funds raised through this campaign will be divided evenly between a STABLE account to assist with the special needs support of Madison and a 529-college fund for Megan.

About Michael
A former marine and graduate of Northeastern Oklahoma University, Michael held many leadership positions across Oklahoma before starting a non-profit to advocate for persons with special needs, including his daughter, Madison.

About Madison & Megan
Born prematurely, Madison suffers from developmental delays which require her to have 24-7 care. A senior at Memorial High School, Madison has competed in Special Olympics and run 5Ks with the help of her Dad, Michael.

Megan, an eighth grader at Edison Middle School, competes in track and excels academically. Her father spent much time with her and loved both girls very much.

About this campaign
The financial and emotional stress of caring for a special needs child has taken its toll on the Turner family. Michael helped with Madison’s care, a responsibility that will now fall solely on the girls’ mother, Lisa Turner. A respected professional in Tulsa, Lisa served as the Director of Development of the Mental Health Association of Oklahoma until five weeks ago when she became the Executive Director of TARC  - a non-profit supporting individuals with disabilities and their families. Michael’s death has required her to take a short leave of absence to support her girls and to plan and fund their futures.

About Tricia Milford-Hoyt
My husband and I met Michael and Lisa in the summer of 2011 in our Sunday School class at Boston Avenue United Methodist Church five short days after moving to Tulsa. Our girls, Megan and Regan (then 6), became fast and inseparable church buddies and best friends. Madison also loves to play with “Re-Re.”

Lisa and I have spent the last eight years leaning on each other, as working moms need to do sometimes. As a former non-profit executive and current full-time mom, I have direct knowledge of their needs and the experience to recognize donors with documentation to support their donations.

Thank you for supporting Megan and Madison. Their futures are so bright; this campaign will help get through this dark time.
