"To Teach is to Touch a Life Forever" and that is exactly what Michael T. Lewis did for thousands of students during his 33-year tenure at Lake Central High School. As a new teacher, he singlehandedly rebuilt and expanded the Choral Department. By sharing the joy Mr. Lewis found in music, his students also found their joy in song, theater, and dance. Whether in class, in concert, directing a musical, or in competition, Mr. Lewis would only accept students giving 100%. Lake Central Choral Department was known throughout the state and won awards too numerous to count at ISSMA and other state and national competitions. Mr. Lewis truly cared about his students and would always make time to listen and to counsel them.

On August 14, 2022 at 2pm, Lake Central Alumni Choir Members, from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s, will reunite from across the country to sing for friends, family, former students and teachers, and the local community. We will celebrate Michael T. Lewis and his impact on our lives. The concert is free to the community, with doors opening at 1:30pm for general admission and will feature alumni’s favorite songs from the decades.

The results of his dedication can be seen at the concert as members of his past choirs, Trebleaires & Girls Ensemble, Madrigals & Counterpoints, and bell choirs are having this reunion to honor and raise their voices in tribute to a man who made an immeasurable difference in their lives. The songs presented are the favorites chosen by those participating and will culminate with the “Hallelujah Chorus” which was presented annually and one of his favorites.
