Michael Schnepf Benefit

Michael Schnepf was a healthy 30-year-old husband, father of two, and dedicated employee owner when overnight his life and the life of his family changed. On October 3rd, Michael was taken to the ER after experiencing significant memory loss over a 24-hour period. Upon arrival at the ER, Michael had a seizure which ended up being a blessing as it prompted the necessary testing to detect a viral infection that had spread to his brain.  Without early detection, the death rate for this type of viral infection is as high as 70-80%.  What was thought to be a straightforward 21-day recovery process turned into months of complications and a slower than expected recovery. From additional seizures, blood clots, unexplained temperature spikes, and continued memory loss Michael was hospitalized through January as he continued to fight to recover from this infection. Michael is expected to make a full recovery and continues to focus on healing now that he is home.

His wife, Tania, had exhausted her short term disability while on maternity leave earlier this year and has taken significant unpaid and unprotected time off to support Michael and his recovery while ensuring their children, Madelyn (3 in June) and Ruby (almost 1), are well cared for at home.  Michael, Tania, and the girls greatly appreciate all the outreach and support!
