We Love You Michael Sands
Donation protected
In September of this year, my sister Cindy Sands and my brother-in-law Michael Sands were both laid off from their jobs. Losing both incomes at the same time was a difficult position to be in. Within a few months, Michael had a great new job with an employer he had wanted a job with for many years. He and Cindy used what could have been a terrible situation as a catalyst to fulfill their dream of relocating to the family farm on the coast of Maine. They packed up their basic necessities, arranged to have their horses trailered to Maine, and jumped into their new life with both feet.
Michael encouraged Cindy to take the time to settle into their new life before seeking employment. He told her she deserved to take it easy after working so hard for the last 48 years.
We all enjoyed a beautiful holiday season with family and friends. He and Cindy were happy to have attended his nieces' wedding on New Years Eve. We were all looking forward to the possibilities the new year would bring for the whole family. We have a rare situation in society today. Three generations living under the same roof. Rather than putting our parents in assisted living, we are providing that care ourselves.
In the early morning hours of January 6th, Michael was returning from Vermont to Maine with a truck load of their posessions. Unbelievably, Michael was the victim of a fatal accident. This sudden death has stunned us all. Anyone who knew Michael knew what a bright light he was, always full of optimism and impishness. He was always taking care of everyone else, never letting anyone take care of him. Even in death, he was doing what he always did, taking care of his family.
So, we finally get the opportunity to help Michael Sands by taking care of his family in their time of need. He and Cindys financial situation was precarious as a result of their period of unemployment coupled with the expenses of moving. Michaels' death has compounded this situation. If you could find it in your heart to donate whatever you can, it would be greatly appreciated. These funds will help Cindy lay Michael to rest and pay the mortgage in Vermont until the house sells.
