Michael Rochette Apartment Fund
Donation protected
Michael is an intelligent and spirited 13 year-old, the third of Kevin and Catherine Rochette's six children. He has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder. Over the last 2 years, Michael has spent 35 weeks in 6 different inpatient psychiatric hospital situations. The unique challenge for his family has been to help Michael transition home successfully from these inpatient stays. Living in close quarters with his 5 siblings is frequently overwhelming and distressing for Michael, and he regresses quickly once home from the hospital. The restrictions brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic have both intensified the stress at home and severely limited the services the family is able to receive.
For lack of effective interventions from the institutions that are supposed to help in such crises, Kevin and Catherine have had to take somewhat desperate measures to help their family. They have found an apartment in which Michael can stay with his father during the therapeutic transition back to life at home. It could take weeks or months till everyone is ready, and the family is in need of financial support to sustain this endeavor. Like many families during this pandemic, Kevin was laid off from his full-time job and Cathy is only working a handful of hours. Paying the bills is already difficult, but adding another rent payment to the budget is not feasible without help.
The family is incredibly grateful for any donation, large or small, to help them provide their kids the space they need to grow and heal. God bless you!
