Michael Pitts Memorial fund

So many people have shared memories of Michael over the last few days, and the same words are repeated over and over again:  "generous", "loyal", "big-hearted", "mentor".  He made us laugh, but so much more importantly he made everyone in his circle feel uniquely special and valid and cherished.  He took in the strays, and made them his family, and once you were in his circle you never left.   The price of his generous, unconventional life was that he never built up a big bank account, and now his mom and siblings have bills to pay for his memorial service and final days.  I'm asking all of you:  if Michael ever helped you get a job, gave you good advice, wrapped his arms around you when you were down, picked up the tab when you couldn't afford to -- please make a contribution.  Ask your friends to contribute.  The PItts Nation is vast and united, and I know we can meet this goal.  Honestly, I kept it minimal --  we should be able to do more and the family could use it.  Michael always believed in all of us, and it's time to show him that belief was justified.  Every donation, no matter how small, is appreciated. 
UPDATE:  GoFundMe would like you all to know that Michael's brother Billy is managing the funds from this account.  I'm sure many of you have heard from him -- the family is deeply appreciative for your help in covering the expenses of Michael's final journey back to San Francisco.  Many of you have asked about Memorial Services -- no plans are final yet, but there will be an event in DC and one in San Francisco both in early 2019.  I'll keep you updated
