Hello, my name is D’Ona. I am fundraising for my brother Jaron - the strongest man I know. My sister in law Bryttney- not all heroes wear capes, but she is one and my nephew Michael Phillips- a true fighter.
I can promise my brother is the most hard working man on the planet and would never ask for help unless absolutely necessary. Bryttney also works around the clock as a full time mother to their 4 children and full time caregiver to Michael. She knows what his lungs are supposed to sound like. She knows what his heart is supposed to sound like. She knows his entire medication routine, takes him for his weekly sometimes even more than weekly appointments and bloodwork and is all around the definition of a dedicated, badass mother.
Michael was born with Shone’s Complex also knows as Shone’s Syndrome. It is a congenital heart defect. If you want more specific information on that a simple google search will take you straight down the Rabbit hole of learning about this incredibly rare heart condition (less than 1% of congenital heart disorder patients have it). The rarity is part of what makes it so complex and more challenging to treat at times with a lot of unknowns.
To make a very long story short- In August of 2022 Michael went in for a valve replacement and it did not go as planned. He spent almost 6 weeks in the hospital and ended up leaving with a valve and a pacemaker. He basically has not been well since and a couple weeks ago was diagnosed with Acute Heart Failure. They do not know how long he has been in heart failure. They are predicting he will be in the hospital a minimum of another month. There are a lot of unknowns. I will be posting all of their updates, the full story and more details in the updates section.
Being in the hospital for so long back in August took a financial toll and here we are again. The medical bills are mounding. The missed work is mounding. The stress is mounding.
I have had so many people ask me how they can help. Here it is. You can help by donating money to help pay for the medical bills (they are still paying off his surgery and stay from August and they’re deductible for this year just reset. This hospital stay will be a minimum of $12,000) to help pay for food, to help pay for missed work.
Thank you all so much. If you can not donate please share and pray over this family.
Love to all!!
