Michael Morrisett Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Michael Morrisett passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jan; father, J. Stephen Morrisett; sister, Diana Painter (Don); his two children, Esther Macdonald, Sam Morrisett (Kristen); and Poppi to Asher, Judah, Raphaela, and Priya. Including friends and co-workers from his 35 year career at Newport News Shipbuilding (Huntington Ingalls Industries).
Known as "Poppi” by the grandchildren, Michael was committed to serving and loving his family. His greatest joy was to spend time with Jan, the love of his life, and bask together in the laughter and love of their children and grandchildren. This tragic loss came as a shock to all family and friends. Michael was in the midst of preparing for retirement in 2019, and talked frequently of spending more time with Jan and one day traveling the U.S. together.
In lieu of flowers, we politely ask contributions in his memory be made to this fund to assist in funeral expenses and to help Jan as she moves into this very unexpected next stage of her life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 2pm at Thalia United Methodist Church (4321 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452).
