Michael MOLINA’S cancer fight
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Brook Molina. My husband Michael Molina is currently In the fight of his life. Mike was recently diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, MDS, which is a rare blood cancer back last August 2021. Since then we had to move from our home In Yakima to Seattle for mike to receive a bone marrow transplant. On March 14th, Mike was the 15th recipient to undergo an expanded cord blood transplant. We were expected to be here at the University of Washington Medical Center for approx 5 weeks.
Mikes cell count was coming in and he was starting to feel a little bit better after all that chemo and radiation but then he started to spiral down. He got really sick. He developed graft vs host disease in his stomach. That’s where the new cells start to attack mikes body because it’s foreign to it. With these new complications, it’s going to take longer for Mikes body to start healing from the inside out therefore extending our stay in the hospital and Seattle altogether.
As to be expected, the medical bills keep piling in as well as our everyday bills. We have a home in Yakima with a mortgage as well as apartment here in Seattle that we’re required to have for when mike is released from the hospital. We have no income coming in currently as we’re both not working right now in addition to trying to raise our 3 teenagers from afar.
We appreciate all the love and prayers we’ve received. If you feel so inclined to support us during this time, we would be so grateful. Thank you and please continue to keep Mike in your prayers!
God Bless, Brook Molina
