Michael Marra & Family
Donation protected

Michael Marra, or to a lot of us, Mike, was unfortunately diagnosed with Guillain–Barré syndrome (GBS) on March 6th, 2019. GBS is a rapid-onset muscle weakness caused by the immune system damaging the peripheral nervous system. He spent 80 days in the hospital and is currently in Mount Sinai receiving inpatient rehabilitation.
Thankfully, Mike is slowly improving. He no longer is using a tracheostomy as he is now able to breath on his own, he is able to wiggle his fingers, and shrug his shoulders. Additionally, Mike is beginning to have upper body motions; he is able to shrug his shoulders, and move his elbows independently. Lastly, Mike is able to sit up on his own, for a short period of time, after being positioned by a therapist.
On July 5th, 2019 an additional member joined his family. Erika, Alex and Ethan (his two younger sons ages 5 and 4) welcomed Dylan Marra to the world. Erika is currently on maternity leave caring for her newborn.
Although both Erika and Mike's family are doing everything they can to support them during this difficult time, the hard journey still continues. We are deeply grateful for your prayers and monetary assistance thus far as Mike continues to fight for himself and his family. We still need your positive thoughts, and if possible, your monetary support to help with Mike's medical bills and the new addition to their family.
We appreciate every single one of you, for your help, during this time.
