Michael A. Lindsay Final Expenses

Donation protected

Michael Arne Lindsay, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and best friend to many, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 19th, 2021 at the much too young age of 64. He would have celebrated his 65th birthday on August 26th.

He will be greatly missed by not only his blood family, but also his recovery family. His assumed cause of death was complications of COPD. He had been struggling with his health for the last few years. Michael was an intensely private person, so if you weren’t aware of his health problems, please do not take this personally. Even some of his closest friends were unaware that he had COPD. Nevertheless, his passing was unexpected and a traumatic shock to his loved ones.

Money meant very little to Michael. What he treasured were the experiences and fine things collected in his extensive world travels, his service in recovery, and most of all, the people he held dear. He therefore had few assets and no money set aside for end of life planning. His beloved son, Marco, single dad to Thea, 6, is faced with the seemingly insurmountable task of making final arrangements for Michael, emptying his apartment, renting storage for his belongings until they can be sorted, and providing a fitting memorial for this man who inspired and was loved by so many, all while shouldering intense grief. This fundraiser is to help relieve the burden of the expenses involved. Any funds donated that are not used for Michael’s final expenses will be placed in a fund, for his granddaughter Thea’s future.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25th, 2021 at Hamlin Park at 1pm. Marco, who is fortunate enough to be a part of both Michael’s blood family and recovery family, has elected to hold one memorial with his family from both groups so that Michael’s blood relatives from Canada can come down and meet his recovery family here.

Marco requests that friends and family share with him recollections of their own memories of his father, as he has found great comfort in hearing them, and in a way, this allows him to build new memories of his deeply loved hero and role model who was taken away much too soon.

Thank you.

In loving memory of Michael Lindsay, 8/26/1956 - 8/19/2021
