Michael LeDuc Memorial Scholarship

Michael LeDuc, our beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, passed away on May 18th, 2021 after a 3-year battle with a rare sarcoma cancer at the young age of 49. It is his family's wish to start a memorial scholarship at Sanborn Regional High School in his name. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to continue their education in computer science or computer information systems and has played at least one sport while attending Sanborn.
A three-year letterman for the SRHS varsity basketball team, Michael was an avid sports fan and talented software engineer. When he was young, he loved to experiment with his father’s “Vic 20” and fondly remembered EJ Gaudet, who encouraged him to pursue computer science while at Sanborn. Basketball was a staple in Michael’s young life, from pickup games with his Blueberry Hill neighbors, or shooting hoops at family gatherings in Londonderry. The Sanborn team had some rough years in the late 80’s but during that time Mike, or as the fans would shout “DUCA!”, played with skill and enthusiasm. He was a great teammate and a good friend.
Mike was just as passionate and skilled with technology. He wrote his first programs in C and FORTRAN, and spent much time in the computer lab at SRHS where he practiced his loop, decision and case control statements just as often as he did his jump shot.
Mike later went on to have a distinguished career at IBM and Liberty Mutual where he focused on software automation and developed a multitude of software test suites and CI/CD pipelines for today's popular applications. Mike enjoyed mentoring recent computer science graduates just as much as he did blocking a shot.
