Michael LaJoie was a kind and gentle soul, who served as a family law attorney to the community of Pueblo Colorado for over twenty years. His caring advocacy for children made him a sought after guardian ad litem, who had a passion for serving the best interests of the children in Pueblo to the fullest. His passion for service transferred over to the Pueblo community as a whole. He served  in various positions including as chairman of the board of CASA. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, son who was also planning a spring wedding to his fiancé. He was esteemed and respected by his many colleagues in law, law enforcement, and the Department of Social Services.   He had a great sense of humor, and especially loved riding his motorcycle. 

On January 19, 2017, Michael was in a horrible accident. He was riding his motorcycle on a city street, only minutes from home, and was hit by a distracted driver of a large car. He received multiple severe injuries to his whole body, including brain injuries and a severed heel.  Michael fought for his life for over two weeks in the ICU before succumbing to his injuries late in the evening of February 7, 2017. This tragedy has put an unexpected financial hardship on his fiancé and family in the midst of their exceptional grief. 

Michael’s family needs our help.The unplanned excessive hospital bills and funeral preparations have created a great burden on his fiancé and family. They need our help to deal with the substantial medical bills from his ICU stay, and to help with the cost of paying tribute to Michael and the legacy of love he left here.
