Michael has been courageously battling metastatic melanoma since 2017. After 3 immunotherapy treatments, 4 surgeries, and several chemotherapy treatments his cancer is not responding. 

Michael's wife, Renelle, has taken a sabbatical from work to care for him as his treatment requires frequent travel to UNC Medical Center from Wilmington.
